Interiors, or the material and fixture selection process, can be one of the most exciting and overwhelming aspects of a project - with dozens, even hundreds of decisions to make.

Whether this prospect excites or exhausts you, there's no need to do it alone.

Interior Design

Making smart and appropriate selections for your home is critical to a project’s success and making it a unique expression of your tastes and style.

We've spent years building our showroom network and selection process to make sure you see the best and most complete range of options.

Need help pulling a look together? Don’t even know what your look is?

Interior design is not simply selecting color, fixtures or furniture.

It involves careful and artful curation of all the items in a space. It incorporates the balance of proper scale, style, texture, layout of selected items – items that reflect your aesthetic sense.

Interior selections can include countertops, flooring, fixtures [electrical and plumbing], fabrics, tile, and paint color, as well as the re-purposing of any existing accessory and décor items, and even the design of original furniture pieces.

Interiors - Group A or "Hard Selections"

So what are hard selections?

Think of it like this: if you shake your house, hard selections are the items that don't move.

Hard selections include countertops, tile, plumbing fixtures. and built-ins/cabinets - all of the items and surfaces that are anchored, glued, and grouted in place.

Group A services are included in the Designer and Premium design packages and include the following items:

> Countertops
> Tile & Stone - selection, tracking, ordering, and layout
> Plumbing Fixtures
> Cabinetry- both design and layout
> Flooring - hardwood or carpet

Group A services are not in the Essentials package, but may be added as an additional service.

Interiors - Group B or "Soft Selections"

Soft selections are items that would go flying all over the place if you were to shake your house. Items, for example, like light fixtures, furniture, window coverings, and rugs.

Group B services are included in the Premium design package and cover the following items:

> Light Fixtures - wall or ceiling mounted
> Paint Colors - walls and ceiling
> Decorative Mirrors
> Window Treatments - shades, blinds, valances
> Wall Coverings - wallpaper, grass cloth
> Area Rugs & Runners
> Upholstery & Fabric [Built-ins] - dining bench or window seat
> Furniture Fit Plan - basic space plan, including all furniture pieces

Selection Schedule

Yes, we're designers, but lucky for you, we're nerds, too.

We love systems - templates, forms, and spreadsheets – because they help capture and organize the hundreds of decisions made during the project. Over the years, we have developed organizational tools to better track all of the decisions common to the material selection process.

> ARTICLE: Material and Fixture Selection

We've found that the uncertainty and stress of the selection process is greatly reduced when you can not only see all of your selections in one place but also measure their cost impact against your budget – all in real time. Cataloging the numerous interiors selections allows us to deliver a successful project that's aligned with your aesthetic preferences, your budget, and free of last minute scrambles.

Selection Schedule

The selection process is organized by our primary tool, the hard-working Selection Schedule, a spreadsheet [managed by DLD], where all of the selections are cataloged. It not only tracks your selections, but it also tracks item numbers, sizes, profiles, finishes, quantities, discounts, pricing, sourcing, and product lead times. And what we love, is that it also helps builders better estimate your project and, ultimately, guide installers on what items to order and where to install them. Whew!

All selections made in either Group A or B are tracked via the Selection Schedule.
